Black lumpfish roes

Lumpfish roes are the cheap alternative to Caviar. They are in fact called the caviar of the North. They are eggs supplied by a marine species that lives in Norway as far as the Bay of Biscay. It is a species that lives in close contact with the seabed, reaching depths of up to 400 metres. During the spring, the lumpfish gather in very shallow waters for mating. Each fish can lay up to 600 grams of eggs.
